Blog 1: Speak Yourself

  Hello, welcome to meet me. My name is Kwa Lik Ren, my name was given to me by my father. I'm the eldest son, so my dad has no experience in naming children. My father thinks that a name will affect a person's conduct, attitude and even life, so he is very cautious when choosing a name for me. I heard from my mother that my father read a lot of books on numerology and thought about it for two weeks before deciding on my name. Lik Ren writes in Chinese is”历任” .历 and Chinese independent 立 homophonic, my father wants me to be a person who understands independence. 任 means  hope me know how to be responsible. I feel like I am really independent and responsible(just my personal opinion).

  When I was young, my family was not wealthy, so my father needed to work abroad to support the family. At that time I could only see my dad four times a year so I sometimes forget who that man is. My parents are not very knowledgeable, so I rarely ask them questions about schoolwork. Gradually I learned to rely on myself to solve problems. Although my parents are not very strict or have high demands on me, I have never let up and I will try my best to do what I am supposed to do. When I grew up, I gradually understood that many things were unavoidable, and I also learned to be considerate of my family.

  Maybe it's because I graduated from a Chinese school, so my English level is not high, I regret that I didn't study English seriously. I don't know why it's so hard for me to focus on anything. I learned the piano, learned to draw, learned to play the guitar when I was a kid, but none of them lasted until the end. I also thought about exercising every day, but I didn't insist on doing it. I envy those who can persist in doing one thing to the end. I think hard work is the key to getting people to their goals, rather than talent.
